Our Mission

Train Today. Save Tomorrow.
Our mission is to train young people to save lives at sea.
Drowning is a global humanitarian crisis. Around 300,000 people drown every year, and most of those deaths are preventable. Unlike many public health crises, drowning can be stopped with the right information and skills.
We are experienced lifesavers and educators, and we set up Atlantic Pacific to fix a shortage of competent, qualified sea rescue education. We design and deliver accessible, scalable and certifiable training programmes for young people aged 12 to 30, through schools and youth programmes, residential courses and direct delivery. Every course is built on best-in-class training materials, including our own sea rescue and psychological first aid manuals.
We also work alongside other NGOs, so that they have the trained crew and personnel they need to save lives.
Our goal is a deep, qualified and competent pool of sea rescuers, ready to deploy wherever they are needed. We measure our success by three things: the people trained on our courses, the graduates deployed in humanitarian situations, and the graduates who have gone on to help people in need.
Our values
A universal respect for human life. Every life is worth saving, wherever it is and whoever it belongs to.
Innovation. From a lifeboat in a box to new research on lithium battery fires at sea, we look for better ways to keep people safe.
Prevention first. Drowning is preventable. The right skills, taught early, are the best protection there is.
Local lifesavers. The best rescuer is the one who is already there when something goes wrong. We train people in the communities that need them.
Open to everyone. Lifesaving skills should not depend on what you can afford. Our funded programmes are free to the young people who take part, and our scholarships open our courses to those who couldn’t otherwise join.
One standard. Crews from different organisations should train to the same benchmark, so they can work together when it matters most.
